What is Executive Coaching?

Executive coaching is an efficient, high-impact process that helps high-performing people in leadership roles improve results in ways that are sustained over time.

Executive coaching is efficient. Unlike traditional consulting, it does not require invasive processes, large outside teams, and lengthy reports and analyses to get results.

Executive coaching is a high-impact process. The work is often accomplished between the coach and client in short meetings (i.e. 30-45 minutes per session) and during focused conversations. In those meetings and conversations, the coach and client generate important insights, gain clarity, focus, and make decisions to improve performance.

Executive Coaching improves results sustainable over time. Those results include improved profits,  increased career and personal satisfaction, and helping people improve their capabilities and effectiveness.

Executive coaching is not therapy or intended to “fix” people. It is for highly functioning, successful people who from time to time, need support and structure to performer at their best. Leaders need coaches in a similar way that elite athletes need coaches - to reach peak performance.

Executive Coaching and Sports Coaching

Executive coaching has certain similarities to the sports coaching framework. The sports coach makes observations, provides tools, engages in forward moving conversations, taps into the internal drive and motivation, and intervenes with challenging insights from time to time.

Executive coaching follows a similar process of watching the leader in action, asking open-ended questions, using off-the-shelf assessments, and conducting a 360-degree verbal assessment. With that information they are able to make observations and challenge the leader in a way that leads to peak performance.
